@aftermidnight , nice truck he has there, my 58 F100 still on back burner for now. Maybe I will have time to work on it next winter.
@Nyboy, trust me you better off with only one project at s time. I always have to many extra things I am working on and all projects suffer from it. Plus in summer time I don’t really have any spare time to work on projects.

i just wish i had someplace to work on a car to begin with. i'd not be selling mine if i had a garage to keep it in and tools and ramps to work on it, etc. it's just too expensive to have others repair things for me to keep it for as little as i drive it. would love to learn how to do body work and wish i had a mechanic buddy to talk shop with. all my attempts so far, nobody wants to do anything together. i guess i suck, i'll go eat worms...

@flowerbug i know it tough to work on cars and trucks without a garage space or the proper tools. I am no expert mechanic or body man but you tube has videos on just about every facet of automotive repair and restoration. I have learned a lot of things about fixing cars from there. I also have a guy who does good work for reasonable amount of money, but only in his time frame not mine. He has had some of my stuff so long he forgot who it belonged to lol. But he works on it when he has a slow day here and there to keep his hired guy busy so I don’t mind cause it’s a good deal. I don’t blame you for getting rid of your car from lack of use, nothing worse on a vehicle than sitting and not being used. Besides gas prices are on the rise..

i'm not at that stage of things. if i end up having a place of my own with a garage and such then i will look into things more for what i'd want to do there. right now it's not worth my time to do that since i would not have the space to do anything with the knowledge.

also, the way things are going, i would want to take classes on electricity, batteries and electric motors. electric vehicles are the way i'd like to go if/when i buy my next car or small truck.

i've already had electronics way back in high school and i know how to use a soldering iron and how to blow up a cheap VOM. :) when i was doing model railroading i built a small computer system from a kit and it was really interesting. it sent digital signals imposed on the voltage through the rail to receivers that you put in each engine so you could run multiple engines on the same line. i had a pretty good start on a large layout in the basement room when i went off to college but then Mom sold the house and it was all ripped out and stashed at one of my brother's places and eventually i sold off the rolling stock and engines and computer setup. years later i got to see most of them again when the guy who bought them passed away and his wife who is still a very good friend of Mom's wanted me to sell them off for her. as i wasn't into ebay at the time i had my brother sell them for me. so it was interesting how things came around in circles because he was the brother who stored them for me and then eventually sent them to me up north and then they came back here to be sold to her and then back to me and then my brother again... i wonder who has them now... i do miss all that. :) i can daydream about it. :)
