I hope you have a safe trip, Thistle'. Yes, your garden should be protected from drying out.

I wondered if you had to go to southern Idaho. A sensible route is thru passes and 100's of miles of western Montana to get there . . . Instead, I believe you are heading for sunny, southern California.

At least, we haven't had too many clouds with the cool spring - until today! I just went outside to see if it was snow falling with the rain but . . . it seems to just be larger drops falling from the trees.

Write when you have time!!

Thanks Steve. :) We're going to cloudy northern CA actually. By way of eastern WA and along the Columbia River then south down I5
through OR. It's a pretty time of year, the wheat fields should all be green and there will be lots of lambs in the fields going down 5.
I'm hoping that the Columbia River gorge won't be hot. Sometimes it's blistering and we don't have a/c.

thistlebloom, post pics of your trip if you can. I miss that part of the country and would love to see the route you're taking & see it through your eyes.

The Columbia Gorge certainly won't be too hot today, Thistle'!

Yesterday, The Dalles had winds above 35mph and there should be white caps all the way down. Just be careful not to be blown into the river! Airborne in the Palouse may also be a risk . . . up over a hill - weeee!

You know, the first obvious accident I saw from a car being airborne was on 101 along the California coast. I was a kid; we stopped. The car was upside down on a turn-out above the cliffs. There was a guy lying in the gravel. We were told that he was okay. Crawled out the window and then feinted. Yeah, I can imagine!

Thanks anyway! We cooled down last night to 41 degrees! Seriously? Rain and cold- my two favorite things. It does look summer might visit us for a few days, coming up. My hopes for the garden lessen with each passing day. Not sure if things can catch up now. Safe trip, Thistle!

Sweltering in the heat and humidity down here in east Texas. I hate to go outside in the evenings after I've had my shower, cause I pop out in sticky, gooey, sweat just standing still. Not to mention thoughtfully providing a feast for thirsty 'skeeters. Sending warm thoughts your way.

from Baymule who cranks down on the AC at night and puts the ceiling fan on HIGH so she and DH can sleep without sweat puddles
