Write as much or as little on here as you want. This is a good place to vent. Cancer, Alzheimers, heart, liver, kidneys, whatever, we've all seen some of them. It's a helpless feeling, like you want to help but don't know how. Just be her friend and support her as you can. We'll try to support you.

What @Ridgerunner said. We are here for you so you can be there for her. Hugs :hugs
At 88 my Dad did not want to try to treat his pancreatic cancer and just prolong the pain. If he had been younger and there had been some hope for remission he might have tried treatment.
I think she has a real good neighbors :)

I'm sad for her and for you, but you are strong and can make a difference in her life by just being there. How do I know you're strong? Your heart is breaking, your eyes filled with tears, but your aura says you care deeply and with that comes strength!

I'm sorry, Major. This is a particularly hard time of year to get such bad news.

Sad news Major, so sorry. :hugs

Optimistically speaking, doctors are sometimes wrong about life expectancies, some people survive well beyond what they are told. I hope this is true for your good neighbor.

I read your post early Friday morning, @majorcatfish. I couldn't think of anything positive to post in reply so I skipped answering until 'later'.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. No one should have to say, "I can't afford to get well." No one should have to watch good friends and loved ones work through such a situation as this. It is terrible that your neighbor has receive such frightening health news. The dire health scare is all she and her family should need to work through at this time. That she has to make the decision whether or not to seek treatment is an injustice I wish I could resolve.

This is a time when she needs all the support from friends and family she can get. Bless you for being the kind of neighbor I wish I had.

Red, I agree but the reality is have $$, get better care.

Part of the problem is administrative costs and with free health care, people abuse it. So decent people get abused.

@majorcatfish, be friend, do what u can, leave it to God.
