Thank you everybody! I'm just beyond excited that we'll have our own place again. Its so tough when you have a taste of something only to have yanked away from you. It would be one thing if we opted to not own again, but it wasn't our choice and that was what made it so tough to swallow. And its even worse because we knew we wouldn't be staying at our rental so we did what we could but we'd really hit the limit of what we could do there so it was just a matter of maintaining and being stuck. So many things I wanted to do but couldn't because it wasn't our place.
There are projects now that I'm so excited about. I know I can't do them all right now, but its knowing that I CAN do them at some point that I get excited about.
I did fix the year, since we've gone to computer based run reports I have to put in times, not dates so I'm REALLY bad about that. I know in how many days I work (I love the modified Kelly schedule) but I couldn't tell you what that date would be.
Drywall and I are on alright terms. I know enough to finish it and not have it look like a hack job but I don't do it often so I'm not super fast and it may take an extra coat to get where I'm happy to prime/paint it.
The realtor was a nice guy and all but he really had no clue. I told my wife and she just laughed and said she was glad I thought of that because we didn't have to give up space for a cold closet. She would gladly if we had to but it was a nice unplanned benefit that unless you were a homesteader probably would never even realized.
Far as the garden goes, Marshall's right NO fancy stuff! I keep reminding myself that. I have stay off places like Jackson & Perkins, David Austin, Tomatofest, and Baker Creek to name a few otherwise I may make an impulse decision and that's not a good thing with what I've already got going. This years garden is going to be mostly for fresh eating. Enough tomatoes for sandwiches, salads, and to eat while weeding out of the garden, a couple trellises of Kentucky Wonders, a pair of zucs, a pair of cukes, some green bell peppers, and some jack-o-lantern pumpkins. That's it. We're going to keep the canning to an absolute minimum, prep ground for 2014 (see Steve I got that one right
) garden and then next year hit it hard.
In 2014 add my compost pile, MAYBE some
American Chinchilla rabbits, but most importantly and if I get nothing else done thats ok, I get our
Black Magic roses. I'm so excited to finally have a place I can grow them. My wife and I have been married 7 years now and she carried a huge bouquet of those when we got married. It was just those dark red roses, you couldn't even see her hands you just saw roses. It was absolutely beautiful. I think there was something like 3 dozen of them in that bouquet. Crazy amount of roses. So its something I've always wanted to since we got married was to grow "her roses" and I'll finally have a place to do it.
Ill be around don't worry. I work 24hr shifts and this site is allowed at work so I'm often on when we have down time at the station. It might be a few days between (I'm usually on for 24 hrs then off 48-72hrs) but I won't be a stranger. I just wanted everybody to know in case it came up I haven't bailed.

I am finding that there are not many people out there who think like a homesteader. I did a happy-dance over our house having a cistern with an electric pump.... Everybody else was like "ACK, I wouldn't want that hazard in my yard." Ha.
Two acres!! :tools Garden!! :rainbow-sun Room to plant, run, play and live!! So happy for you!!
