Steve, I'm so jealous that you have been seeing snowflakes for 12 hours! I so want snow up at our cabin but I've been checking the web cam up there and nothing. :( It is supposed to snow today and tonight up there but will be sunny all week while we're up there. I love to be all cosy and seeing snow fall.

Mary
I don't know quite where she has her cabin but doesn't this mean Mary has her White Christmas?

It has been snowing almost continuously for 48 hours, I think.

It stops for a little while, now and then. However, the snowfall has been so light that there seems to be only about 10 inches on the ground.

There were some warmer days last week and some of the snow melted but I can't remember when "flurries" have essentially contributed the entirety of a 10" snowpack. And, I can assure you that attempts to pack it with the digitS' would result in the most civil of snowball fights ;).

Steve, our cabin is located in Dorrington, about 25 minutes from Bear Valley ski resort. There is some snow on the ground but it's supposed to be sunny all week and I'm afraid it will melt quickly. Certainly not enough to toboggan down the street for the kids.

I faced a dilemma this morning as I prepared to walk down to get the newspaper and yesterday's mail, a half mile each way. Do I wear long sleeves or short sleeves? It was 63 but a breeze was blowing so I wore a sweatshirt. I would have probably been OK without the sweatshirt but it was probably the right call.

Just a few days ago we were in the lower single digits when I woke up, quite a change. We are forecast to have out third warmest Christmas day on record, in the mid 60's.

Mary, to me that sounds like a perfect white Christmas. I's really pretty but it's gone before it becomes dangerous to drive in or becomes gray, tracked up, and ugly.

Uh oh. Temperatures down in the high teens again this morning. The wind is calm.

Here comes the snow again! The WS gives us a 100% chance for tonight and says that it may be heavy, at times. That will be new, instead of an incessant sprinkle. But, quite a bit of wind ..!

With so much light snow already around, I suspect that roads will be blown closed.

Me? I began thinking several weeks ago about where I put the snow. It may soon be a problem. Just doing things like - "I throw it this way as far as possible so there will be room for the garbage cans!" Shoot, I hate to fret about such things but some parts of my yard begin to look like snow storage areas! Picket fences help with cribbing ...

Ready for more snow here. Maybe Thursday? We got messy snow, freezing rain, and now rain last night and this morning. It is above freezing, so hopefully the crust will melt. The skiing/snowshoeing was already pretty bad, so some fresh snow would be nice!

I'm waiting for ..

. @thistlebloom and her shovel to report in. It might be after New Years - probably be blue skies and below zero by about the 3rd. Just guessing ;)

Upper Midwest, be prepared for what is blowing through here.
