@thistlebloom - He was actually a really young male- I know he doesn't look like it! I called him "Spot" because if he would've been facing me, you could see a single shiny red dot on his throat. I can't find a forward photo of him off hand :confused:

Good to know HW! I wasn't aware that they didn't get their red throat plumage until they were mature. I wonder if that's true for other hummer species as well?

@thistlebloom - Here he is later in the year, at HIS feeder! The bush I photographed him on is where he hid in ambush and waited on others to come to the feeder.

@jackb just wanted to let you know I took some practice shots this morning and I was really happy with them. I'll share them with you as soon as my cable/battery charger gets back from the fire cleaning people.
