I love oatmeal, esp the coarse stuff. It gives me too much "floofing" all day tho....

make sure it is well cooked and eat it regularly and your body will likely adjust to it. same with beans. once you eat them regularly your GI will adjust. the biggest problem a lot of people have with beans is that they often eat a whole lot all at once like at a picnic where they are also heavily spiced and added meats/fats. which will make any outputs from the other end smell worse. if you instead eat them more plain and use them as fillers in other dishes you likely won't notice them or the "floof" as much of a problem.

Really? I just read something about high fiber and weight loss. Did you keep track of how much fiber? Did you eat meat too? I eat oatmeal for breakfast, but I know I am not eating enough fiber the rest of the day.
What keep track? Not me. I cut out highly digestible starches-White potatoes, white bread, pop, as much sugar as I could and still enjoy my food. Substituted in oatmeal for breakfast, whole wheat bread/pasta, beans for starches and ate garden vegetables. Still have my chocolate chip cookies but use oatmeal, whole wheat flower, 1/2-1/3 the sugar, bitter chocolate chips. Also ,are black bean brownies to replace brownies. Lost 40+ pounds but key was lowered cholesterol and blood sugar.

I cut out pop years ago, but I eat too much of white potatoes and white bread, but I can change that to whole wheat. I have made black bean brownies and they are really good. Do you still eat meat or eggs?

Of course! :thumbsup Although more pork, less beef. I have a hard time digesting beef. Took up getting bait wet in an attempt to eat more blue gills and crappie. They are NOT cooperating! I haven’t stopped anything, just switched food items from low fiber to high fiber-& cutting way back on sugar.... family history and of diabetes and cholesterol....

I AM NOT CRANKY!!!! Not sure why everyone thinks that (or says that) as I’m just trying to correct them as they are obviously in error for not thinking my opinion is the ONLY correct one. I can see that very clearly.

My pointing out the rudeness of you pea pickers is an attempt to get you to realize the insensitivities of posting beautiful garden pix while we are under 30 degree weather and 12’ of snow... :celebrate:frow

You will be spared of that next year. I won't have a garden, as I'll be putting the farm up for sale. Instead, I will have a garden well disced up with the tractor on a regular schedule, so that prospective buyers won't see the bodacious weed patch that I grow. The ragweed and lambs quarters attain the size of small trees, mustn't let them show their selves and scare off a buyer. :gig

So I shall live vicariously on here, looking at everybody else's pictures. I'll patiently wait on yours, so make sure you post PLENTY.

Things are running short again here. Lots of local stores and the ones in the city have been completely out of chocolate, chocolate chips, baking chocolate, even m&ms and candy bars made with chocolate. The only Walmart in the county has put dairy on a 1 item per household restriction. We managed to get bread but all 3 loafs from different brands went bad within 2 days. I’m probably going to have to start baking my own bread again. Lots of other stuff has been really low quality or completely out of date.
When I buy bread I put it in the freezer then thaw in the refrigerator and sometimes just keep it in there til its used up. Helps to keep longer.
