I credit my chocolate lab, Cee Cee, for ending the constant fight with groundhogs here. She was on them constantly until they moved on seeking a more peaceful home. It took her two years, but I haven't seen any sign of groundhogs or their holes in the 8 years since. Darned near lost a couple of grandchildren in those holes.

I still see them racing across the road nearby, but not on my property.

As one member of this household feels that outside dogs should not spend much time outside, that's not a good option for me. I agree a good dog, when allowed to be a good dog, can solve a lot of these kinds of problems. Groundhogs, rabbits, rats, and such.

$2500 must be the insurance default amount for a deer strike. That's what mine was too. I drove the car home ( 97 Blazer) but had it towed to the shop because the grill was smashed into the radiator and I didn't want to risk a 14 mile drive in it.

I agree with Ridge @journey11 , make sure you go over everything carefully. I had the A/C on when I hit the deer, and it didn't work after. They said coincidence. The water pump also leaked when I got it back and it hadn't before. They tried to weasel out but I got a little affirmative on them and they ended up fixing it.

Most definitely you have to fight for your rights when dealing with insurance. Journey, I'm so glad you didn't get hurt.

Love insurance companies. Fight to get your premiums, then fight to get out of paying claims. If they do pay, your premium goes up so you pay for your claim 2X.

I can't complain about mine. They paid right up, didn't even need a police report. My rates did not go up either, they said it was a natural hazard or something like that but not a case of poor driving. Since it was not in our control, no rate increase.
