Purpose for the garden

The purpose for our garden is to give us fresh produce, healthy produce and an abundance of produce. It is a graden to be shared. Some will be a gift, some will be for sale and some will be to keep. Its purpose also is to keep us outside in the fresh air. Away from the TV, the internet, the telephone. To get my knees a little stained, my back a little sore, and my fingernails a little dirty. To help me sleep better at night and to help me through the long snowy winters. It feels good to be in the garden. It feels natural. Almost like it was where we were intended to be.

My garden is to help keep my sanity.

You know if its a bad day, I'm out in the garden with my sun hat on and a basket. You know its a TERRIBLE day if I wheeled the cooler out with me and filled it with beer. I'm not coming in for awhile!!!

Growing stuff OTHER than grass around the garage so I DON'T HAVE TO MOW RIGHT NEXT TO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Getting in super shape so that I can be the oldest Olympian...in 2016, maybe!! hardy, har, har!!!

The purpose of my garden?? Hmm....


I guess it all started out with my husbands hair brained idea that the world is going to end and we need to be able to fend for ourselves...

But... I've really grown to love it! I have made all these plans for us to buy about 20 acres or so and really start making more of an effort of becoming more self sufficient. I want cows for meat and some cheese (mostly meat tho), goats for milk and possibly meat, chickens for eggs and meat, maybe rabbits... not sure. I want a pond that we can stock for fish, ducks for eggs and meat. garden and orchard area for fruits and veggies. I want grape vines for eating and making some wine. (mostly for personal use... I really wine!)
