I agree with Pat. I don't know about the setup of a rain barrel, but what about placing the rain barrel on some bricks (or something), so it sits taller than the ground, attaching a hose (or a small pvc pipe) to the barrel that would reach the garden, then attaching a soaker hose in the garden and let gravity work to slowly water your garden? I'm slowly watering indoor plants this winter. Somebody got me 8 aqua-globes for Christmas--

I've been using them successfully in the pots of my indoor plants this winter. I've managed to keep alive some plants that I have notoriously killed during the winter:
--pointsetta
--geraniums
--mum (rescued--near death when I got it!!)
--and that made me think that dripping the water WITHOUT turning on a hose could work AND save some gardening time. I KNOW that if I fill my horse trough then detach my two 100 foot long water hoses from the faucet without taking the end out of the 110 gallon tank, it WILL back up and try to suck all of the water out of the tank, so you wouldn't need a lot of pressure.

What do you'all think? :pop
