Marshall, I occasionally go up to Santa Rosa. Where do they sell those White Blackberry plants?

Bluebonnet, do you need White Blackberry plants? If Marshall can find them for sell, I can probably get you some in the near future.

O.K, well Bluebonnet all this talk of white blackberries has made me curious so I've been googling like crazy and ave come up with a lot of results. I don't know if it will be useful, but Ill put it up none the less. I ave found no results for sellers, but quit a few little forums containing members who own them. You could join and ask publicly or pm them. It will take a while to put everything up here but I'll start with this.

The person in that first link mentions a blue persimmon.

Now I have to add that to my want list too!

Good finds Wishin'! I'm glad to see the plants are still out there.

Ninnymary - Thank you for the kind offer. I am not sure how well these plants would ship and it would be a shame to lose them. Do you know of a source? I might be headed out to California to pick up a few things, so if it is out that way please let me know.

I am a member of the Homegrown Goodness forum myself, that's were I located the guy that gave Smart Red her Cloudberry seed. I think that Barefootgardener may be a member too. You may be interested in joining, it's mostly about breeding and unusual crops. I certainty would if you want your berries, the folks on there don't mind sharing and spreading our crop biodiversity around. I could PM one of them but don't want to ask for too much. You'll also discover new crops that would be great for your area.

I've never heard of a blue persimmon, I have heard of a black variety though. If I remember right, they may occur naturally in Texan brush or similar.

Hello. :p

I actually do not yet know when, and even if for sure, they have plant sales at either the Burbank Gardens in Santa Rosa, or what is left of the Burbank Farm in Sebastopol, both of which are about a 90 mile drive from here at Lake Pillsbury.

Bluebonnet, I was kidding about charging a bazillion bucks for a plant. I'm an ole hippy who'd rather give things away than be a rich capitalist.

This time of year around here, the bramble berries are already waking up from their semi dormancy.

Most Blackberries have a very strong life force and transplant successfully even in midsummer. This timne of year, with them pushing roots, most of them transplant extra easily.

Course, I don't know the vigor levels of these White Blackberries. Apparently they may be weaker than some, or else there would be more of them.

The homemade packing techniques ought to work, especially if mailed priority. They may be rooted cuttings in 4" pots, or some such thing, which is very doable too.

=====

White Blackberry would be fun to cross with Fall Gold Raspberry... hmmmmmmm, or with the Tayberry or the Dewberry, or maybe with Smart Red's Cloudberry...

Sorry Bluebonnet, I don't. I was hoping Marshall did.
