Chillin' In The Garden
Greensage45, the American persimmon tree can get quite tall, although the ones I have aren't but about 20' or so. They are pretty common in the wild around here (southern Indiana). The fruit is about the size of a quarter. The Japanese version has larger fruit. You sometimes see them in grocery stores. The fruit is dark orange when fully ripe. Some people say it tastes something like pumpkin, but I don't think so. Here is a link to tell you more about the tree and the fruit.
Countrylady, thank you for the recipe. I've got more pulp, so I may try it.
Countrylady, I'm glad you liked the recipe. It has been handed down for three generations. It's one of my treasures from my grandmother and mother.
