Just poured cold water on the effort!
Listen, Every Time I dig or lift or carry or push and my heart rate goes way up I KNOW I'm get a cardiovascular workout. I have never had ANY heart pain but sometimes when I am working and my heart is racing from exertion, I stop and let it go back down to normal.
I think the rule is to raise your heart rate a little or a lot for 30 minutes in a row/day.

For me, I have just split the difference in deciding that getting the pulse above 100 was the target. Summer, I don't worry about it but winter, I need to have all that horrible exercise, 30 whole minutes each day!
