I'm putting in 4 late season tomatoes, though I have a feeling I won't need them :p

I'm pulling my finished corn and sunflowers in about a week and then new sunflowers & corn are going in after we till the rows I have waiting for them (if these storms ever let up!).

We'll have cabbage and carrots, swiss chard.... maybe more cukes & black beans in soon too. October in goes the winter rye, onions and garlic. The rest of the beds will rest for spring this year. :D

I'm planning a fall gardening class the second week of August here, so fingers crossed that goes well. :)

More like round three. . . But I didn't get my garden in very early this spring.

I will be pulling the beets, lettuces, and peas - this week, so there will be room for more cole crops, more beets, some beans as well. I will wait until near the end of August to replant lettuce, peas, scallions, and other early spring veggies. I'd like some more carrots, but they need so much water just to get started that I may have to be satisfied with what I now have.

Guess I will have to check my seed stash and see what I have left that is suitable. Sure wish there was time for sweet corn! Didn't get any planted this year because of the dry.

Love, Linn B (aka Smart Red) Gardening in zone 4b-5a, newly 5b? -- anyway, Im still in the same spot in south-est, central-est Wisconsin

The only thing we will be putting in this fall is garlic and shallots in October. We may plant more bush beans as soon as we get some space back in the garden.

I have reached the Bide My time of the growing season.

Iris were pulled and moved.

Veggies? I've passed the date for summer squash (& this year, trying cucumber starts) late - 4th of July. Passed July 15th and the less risky date for late bush beans. . . . There are lots of all 3 in the garden. Maybe, I'll put some snow pea seed in the ground but 1st, I'll have to find some open ground :p.

Late August, it will cool off and I can begin sowing seed for fall greens, including lettuce. Perhaps, there will be a cool corner of the backyard where I can get some seed in containers a little early so it can be plant starts that go in with the cool-off. That works well but a "sweet spot" has to be found along with contentious care of the seedlings in their little pony packs while it is still hot.

I'm taking the risk, Steve! I wanted to put in bush bean seed where my garlic is...and i wanted to do it 2 weeks ago. But two of my three types of garlic just didnt look ready to dig. So, i just dug them today and put in 2 different varieties of bush beans. I picked a 51 day and a 58 day, so i *might* be okay. We'll see. Excited about my garlic harvest though!

I planted beans in my row where I pulled the garlic. They are all up- and looking good. With this wacky summer, I doubt we will have an early frost (I am knocking on wood, and I wouldn't bet much money on it ) I feel like I am gardening in the desert...

The 14 zuchinni seeds I planted just sprouted and came up. I will try broccoli and califlower from seed this year and will plant that soon. I also will plant turnips and mustard greens. I am trying to root Celebrity cuttings for fall, but they are looking kinda sad right now :fl I usually buy onion sets for green onions but I bought seed to try. I bought a lettuce seed mix and lettuce always does good all winter. I built a PVC redneck greenhouse 2 years ago and will use that this year for tomatoes and the bell peppers that are growing in it right now. We just wrap it in plastic and run an extension cord to an electric heater in it. I still have 3 collard green plants from last fall that have survived the summer heat and I will buy them some friends to keep them company :hugs I just planted some carrot seeds and some have come up. :fl
