I still have a couple of aunts left, well, three aunts. One of them, age 90 showed up at my mom's assisted living home to visit, wearing skin-tight jeans with sequins on them. She's very hard of hearing, so can't hear the people snickering behind her. I think she's looking for husband #5.

Somewhere, maybe my baby sister has it, there is a sharp color photo taken in 1949, of my parents, 3 of mom's sisters and their husbands, all of them around 30 years old give or take, having a picnic, laughing and joking with each other. All now gone.

Hard to think of the things. They are like half my age I am now. They had probably loaded up in aunt Eleanor's late '20's I think it was an Olds something like a station wagon, to a forest park near Helena Montana. Ya know, I think it was spring 1949, a few months after my parent's wedding. It was taken using Eleanor's twin lens.

If I make it to that age, I want to BE HER!
(I just adore those young-a-heart seniors!)

So Lucky, we can hope that if another husband is important to her happiness, that she is successful. I have it on good authority that styles will change this spring. Yes, she will need to ditch the sequin denims and go for tight, neon colors. Wait! Where are those blinders I sometimes wear??

Okay, I'm glad we turned a page on this topic but here is something I find a little positive and negative. And, it is a little more negative about American women than it should be, I think.

I was reading a study lately about wealth . . . well, of course! We are talking about success :p.

It was about body weight and wealth, oddly enuf. White American women gain considerable amount of wealth, on average, by decreasing their body weight by 10 points BMI. I am not even gonna . . . okay! I will look that up and see what it means . . . Example of what they are talking about: a woman 5 feet 5 inches weighing 180# and dropping that weight to 120# saw a wealth increase of $11,880 between 1985 and 2000! All other things being equal.

I am not kidding! Over 7,000 people studied. The women were all in their 20's at the start of the study (which involved a multitude of things).

White men actually gained more $ for losing that much weight ~ however ~ it was NOT nearly as "statistically significant" because white men were coming from having more wealth to begin with. It didn't pump up their averages all that much .

Now, we don't want people to be obese but it is easy to look at that and say, "Yeah, losing weight probably went together with more attention to diet and gaining wealth probably went together with applying oneself more to the world of work. But still . . . !"

I am not suggesting neon pants as a substitute for a healthful diet but the implication here that attractiveness is so closely related to wealth accumulation makes me a little sad.

Yeah, there have been lots of studies, too, that show attractive people are deemed to be more suitable for hire, regardless of their qualifications. Seems that if you look good, people want to give you a job, a raise, a big diamond ring, lots of stuff. No wonder the waiting list for cosmetic surgery is getting longer!

Hehe. But I think just as important is how attractive/competent a person FEELS. Did you ever know someone who was a real knockout, but whose life is sort of a dead-end because their self confidence was very low?
Conversely, someone who is average looking on a good day, but is considered to be quite attractive, successful, intelligent, awesome, most friendly person we know? It's all in the Attitude! Attitude, Baby! .............(I'll go crawl back under my rock now:rolleyes:)
