Killing off seeds by drying out and replanting...learning curve.
Experimenting with my basement lights and heat mats. Just bought a Jiffy gro light

Got it for $23, on clearance, btw.
Just set it up on top of my fridge bc I was keeping my extra lights on all day, and I thought that this would be cheaper.
My cherry tomato plants have mostly survived the transplanting but they are growing like they are sipping vodka every day...so slow? I lost 4 of them and replanted with a handful of old beefsteak/heirloom seeds. The pots that I replanted 2 weeks ago with a handful of beefsteak and heirloom tomato seeds look like
every one of them sprouted. We'll see, but even with the gro lights and heat mats my basement is around 50 degrees, so it isn't very warm. Don't have much of a choice bc my kittens will dig them up for sport if I put them on a windowsill. I am bringing in some leftover poultry netting this week to wrap around the shelving unit when they are large enough to grow without a ziplock bag on top. DRAT MY CATS!!!!!!!

Sweet peppers are up in their jiffy gro container with jiffy pots. I will leave them to start pushing up the plastic cover before I remove it.
I think some spring bulbs are up in my bed in the front. Last fall I dug up the bed to replant AND, if the soil isn't perfect it compacts And I was able to weed the bed easier. I also put in some new mums and asters. I gave away my biggest bulbs to my neighbor, but I had SO MANY--to many baby tulips and others for that bed, so I have them planted in some other places.
We are SO LUCKY that we can buy new seeds if we kill the ones we have!!! I don't think that I could EVER be self sufficient!
