I've had the sweet 100 cherry tomato before and they are great! I've had the black cherry tomato before too and they are soooooo sweet! You will enjoy them! But seriously......are you sure you got enough plants? I think you should go back and get some bell pepper and banana pepper plants too!

I had to smile when I read the line " went to the nursery unsupervised"! I have gone to the store for ungarden things and come back with trees. sounds like you got some really good buys. It would be foolish to pass up a bargin.

I actually passed them over on purpose. There is an elderly Asian family that comes to the farmers market from the time it opens till the time it closes 2x a week all season long selling sweet and hot peppers. They sell Kimchi, dried peppers, and a couple dried pepper seasoning mixes too. They have the best looking peppers I've ever seen there. They speak just enough English to get by, but at the prices they sell them for I'm ok not doing any this year since I'll get what I need from them.

OK Jared, at the risk of someone throwing rotten tomatoes at me, :hide I'd say you went overboard! Fortunately for you, you have the space.

Seems like you will be doing some canning. But what are you going to do with all those pumpkins!:D

Have to ask, what will you do with pumpkins from 20 plants? Eat that much pumpkin pie?

Well I really went to see my daughter living in Florida. There are no daylilies in bloom in Massachusetts yet. Doesn't that explain it? I loaded up my suitcase with 50 lbs of daylilies-last year too. Met some famous hybridizers. Now it makes sense, right?

I went to the daylily extravaganza in Florida last week called Mecca. I would be embarrassed to admit how much I spent on daylilies.
Let's see if I understand this correctly.

You went from Mass. to Florida to attend the daylilly extravaganza...but are embarrassed to admit how much you actually spent on daylillys?? You need help   :gig

The extras Ill give to my wife's Grandmother and a few other members of the family who no longer can garden. She's 94 and my grandfather is 93 so we always to bring them extras. Usually we'll pick and extra quart for each of them at the U picks we visit plus fresh veggies out of our garden.

The pumpkins we carve. I have 2 nieces and 3 nephews plus my daughter and another child on the way. Not to mention at our house my wife is into carving pumpkins. So they'll all get used. The kids love it when you show up and they each get a few pumpkins to carve instead of 1 pumpkin and that's it. Our house always has a long row of them all carved & lit up on Halloween. I knew I was in trouble when my wife and I were dating and we went to get cider at the apple orchard and she bought 5 pumpkins for "us" to carve. Neither of us had any kids, just for us to do. So now I grow them. For me there's just something special having the people you love and care about enjoying something you put so much work into. Even if its just for that day. Round here its all about family.

Besides if we get a few that are not good carving pumpkins then they are pie pumpkins. I've learned that ugly pumpkins make for some REALLY good pie.

Ya' gotta love a guy who grows pumpkins just so the kids in the family can carve them up! :thumbsup
