This isn't so much funny as ironic.

You may remember some time ago I mentioned the historical incident in the 1950's when the CIA slaughtered every native pig in Haiti, ostensibly to deal with a swine flu outbreak but really to destroy the local subsistence economy to get the peasants to sell their land so it could be turned into export crop plantations for US interests and the peasants could be turned into desperate urban workers.

It suddenly occurred to me that there was another reason this claim should have been instantly seen as ludicrous. When the mention similar pig breeds to the Cuban black that still exist, one of them is the Dominican Black from the Dominican Republic. This didn't mean much to me until I remembered something recently; Haiti and the Dominican Republic are two sides of the SAME island! If there was an outbreak of swine flu in one, it would very quickly spread to the other across the mountains in the middle. And yet, no one questioned why the CIA wasn't killing pigs on the Dominican side.
