Surprise pup!

On the gushy stuff, DH and I were having dinner with DD and her family, along with some of their friends. I was gushing over my chickens, showing pictures on my phone, when DD remarked, "You know, most grandparents show pictures of their GRANDCHILDREN." I replied, scrolling on my phone, "Here's a picture of my grand daughter HOLDING A CHICKEN!"

My kids say the same thing... Say I have thousands of chicken pics but few of them. I reply, in true mother fashion, "The chickens are just chickens and must have pics taken so that I'll even remember them and how they looked, while my children and my grandchild are so deeply engraved in my heart and mind that they are always in my mind's eye, in glorious detail."

How's that for a smooth side step? But...it's the truth. I'm not a picture kind of woman when it comes to my kids because I carry them in my heart... a 2 dimensional image can't top what I see in my mind.

Repeat with frisbee.

And Wren sings:

Alouette*, gentille alouette,
Alouette, je te plumerai.

Je te plumerai la tête.
Je te plumerai la tête.
Et la tête! Et la tête!

Alouette! Alouette!
A-a-a-ah
Alouette, gentille alouette,
Alouette, je te plumerai.

*Lark (in English)

Steve, Étienne LaLiberte

Ha! I had to look up the translation to that song Steve, but you're right!
That's exactly what I heard Wren humming quietly...

In the elementary school I attended we had a whole school sing-along in the auditorium every Friday, where we kids all sat on the floor and sang various songs for an hour. "Alouette" was one. I never had any idea what it meant though. :\

Make sure that Wren continues to have special privileges, however circumstances allow.

She will very much appreciate that small space right beside your chair and the chance for the small treat, while Alouette enjoys the large one.

Remember, you (YOU) are the top dog and can entertain small indulgences.

Steve, taking liberties

Not to worry. The little Wrenbird is a privileged senior member of the Canine Club. Recently when the night time temps dipped so low she got to stay inside for the night when visiting hours were over.

Larka seems to relish the cold and lays on her belly in the snow, legs stretched behind her for little winter catnaps. She would much rather be draft horsin' around in the cold air than be inside unless we are all there to entertain her!

The dog houses in the dog run have heated mats and are stuffed with clean straw. I have never seen Larka sleep in one. She prefers the open air on the straw.
