  • mississippi mud roast

  • 4lbs chuck roast
  • 1(1 ounce) envelope ranch dressing mix
  • 1(1 1/4 ounce) envelope au jus mix
  • 1⁄2cup butter
  • 4 -5pepperoncini peppers
  • fresh ground pepper, to taste
DIRECTIONS
  1. Spray your slow cooker with nonstick spray.
  2. Place roast in the slow cooker and sprinkle with a little black pepper and a little seasoned salt.
  3. Sprinkle the top with the ranch dressing mix and the au jus mix.
  4. Place peppers on top of mixes.
  5. Add the stick of butter on top.
  6. Set your slow cooker to 8 hours and forget it.
  7. You do not add any additional water to this.
  8. Served with mashed potatoes, but you could serve with egg noodles.
the only thing we changed we put in only 2 pepperoncinis

Wow, that's a lot of butter. Have you ever tried it with just half a stick? Wondering how it would come out.

Is the au jus mix where all the McCormick seasoning envelopes are at? (The ones for chili, enchiladas, sloppy joes, etc.)

we been following the recipe for years, what juice is left we strain and freeze makes good dipping sauce for toasted roast beef sandwiches and as a base for soups..
yes you will find the au jus mix in seasoning aisle ........

Mary, I thought the same. Wonder if butter could be left out completely. :( Right now Butter is not my friend. ;) Yes, @Nyboy butter (and cheese ) make everything better (and in my case bigger.)
