Marshall,

I like that abreviation for Seedobsesser (SeedO).

Yep your probably correct about the the dark pinto pattern being from a set of dominant traits.

It will be amazing to see what you wind up with amongst all those new outcrosses beans I sent you. Can you imagine the combinations I might get out of my garden this year. I'll be planting all those same beans, but I'll be planting 10 seeds per variety. I would like to see that Flamboyant bean show up some larger sized seed.

Yep I got some sore muscles today from slinging that roto-tiller around for 4 hours yesterday. It's raining today so I'll be doing some a lot less physical things.

YAY!! So far, 14 of the Bambarra ground nut/bean have come up! :weeeThey sure look weird, not at all like a bean plant. The leaves are just unfolding, so I don't have a real good look at them yet.

4 of the Jugo-Botswana have come up and none of the Jugo-South Africa have made it to the top yet. Out of the Jugo-Botswana is a normal looking bean plant which leads me to believe there is an imposter Jugo in the mix. :epIt will be fun to see what I wind up with. I took pics of the Jugo-Imposter and of the Jugo-South Africa (which looks like the Bambarra so I didn't take pics of it).
The Imposter

There is color variation in the sprouting leaves in the Jugo and Bambarra, some are bright green like seen here, some are burgundy color like sprouting sweet potatoes. I will chronicle these as they grow so we can all enjoy these weird beans!

Sure, you can send me another variety. Your choice. Bush preferred since they will go in where 45 has yet to appear. Just 4 seeds in a normal envelope, marked "hand cancel please". Thanks!

Yep Bay, that bottom photo is what the Nyimo look like, except I'd say the Nyimo green is a bit more reddish, like a variety difference.

I say grow the imposter to see what it is. Course, since it is an unknown from far away, just be careful just in case it makes 49 bazillion seeds that conquer the world. Actually, with my ole eyes, that imposter looks like a Vigna, something related to y'all's Texas Cowpeas.

Oh boy Bay, the fun begins!

Don't forget Pulsegleaner's warning that there appears to be a variety of cowpea in the Jugo (that would mean two different species in the seed sample). I'd say that you have an African strain of cowpea there.

Inventory of all the beans I have planted so far in my garden, by bed. I have not yet processed this inventory to add up the total number of each variety. These are all the beans I got from Russ, and some from Digit, some from SeedO, and some from MAR who is Manuel Rivera who recently moved to the states from Puerto Rico. I have one more bed I definitely will make before June, and one or 2 other smaller beds I might get to making in time for this season.

I didn't get the camera out for several photos I wanted to take, but I was plugging along at getting a bed planted today, lassooing some berry plants, making this inventory, and doing some preliminary work to get the next bed started.

I made this list by bed and wanted to photo a hand drawn graphic of the beds and their numbers. I'll get to that hopefully soon.

But at least you'll have a record here of what you planted for safe keeping. :) I'm going to take good notes on mine this year, especially regarding flavor, cooking uses and DTM.
