my beans are climbing up bamboo stakes to a rope running the length of the 20' bed about 5 ' off the ground. the beans have mostly reached this rope and are running laterally on this rope. I don't know if this will support a harvest or not. we'll see.

Hi BJ !

We will see what your beans are doing by the end of July. My guess is that you will probably have some dry pods and fully mature dry seed by then.

These are from the front of my garden about a week ago. Sorry about the quality and fewness of photos recently. On the plus side, Jeff just emailed me, the guy rebuilding my old laptop, that he put a new hotshot scorpio bazillion gig things hard drive into it, and that it spins at a bazillion times faster than the old hard drive spinner thingamajig, and he installed some new mazeratti ferrari convertible, chrome red super duper program things into it, in return for looking out for his boat during the rain we just had. He sez he'll try to get the old photo programs I was used to for it too!

Meantime, this little chromebook is doing great, just not much with photos or bells and whistles.

Can ya make out some of the stitching I did on the netting this winter. Some of the worst of it was on the opposite side, way up. Looking out at it eight now, the plants are all taller, more flowers, generally doing real good. that first photo has most of the bean varieties I got from Russ in that section. Somewhere in the middle are Russ' Chickasaw which are growing now like very vigorous full half runners.

I'd sure like to grow all of Russ' outcrosses and creations next year!

Oh, I need to photo those purple seeded peas real soon. They really are a dark purple! For the Texans, I mean Pisum peas, english peas, snow peas, not cowpeas. :p

Marshall your garden looks great! And I humbly accept the First Dry Bean Award..........(what do I get?) ............. :woot

Russ, the beans are looking good. I can see why you and Marshall are so addicted to growing beans. All the pretty colors, patterns and the history of each bean! Something as simple as a bean.......something as complex as a bean. This is fun!

hmmmmmmmmm, Bay, I have an idea for your award...

Since you are so fast at growing Beans, want to try growing some Beans next year that take almost 7 months to mature? If I get those to ripen this year, and get a good crop, I'd be able to send you some. Not everyone can grow these, and they are very unique! One variety among them makes midnight blue Beans with deep coppery gold colored bands and marks. Another is a Grey and white speckled one with gold bands. Several varieties among them make almost lima bean sized beans that are colored like...how to describe, spe kles that start at the eye, then fade to like a pebble under water...and some others. Want to try some of those next year? They are from south of you, down in Mexico, south part of the sierra madre...

SEVEN MONTHS to mature? Gheesh, by the time those finally made beans, you'd be starved to death! Fortunately I have the grocery store for back up. :gig Yeah, I'm in. I'll grow some! Do you just grow these to keep them from becoming extinct, or are they prolific once they do mature? Are they bush or climbing? Send them to me early in the year, so I can start them indoors and then transplant them. They sound pretty.

(Bows) I accept the Early Dried Bean Award (bows again)
