On June 14 Solucky asked me a question about this black soil here, and I forgot to post an answer. I think this soil here in northern Illinois is glacial till. 10,000 years ago I believe the glaciers stopped less than a hundred miles south of where I live. I think the glaciers deposited some of this soil here. It is truely beautiful stuff, and I'm fortunate to be working with it.

Hey Marshall that is a really neat gardening setup you got. Sorta like gardening in a greenhouse. I suppose you gotta garden that way with all those critters living in the woods lickin their chops and watching what you are growing. I'm sure they have known your address for quite sometime now.

Russ, some of the bikini babes around here call my garden Fort Knox. I have to cover all possible animal assaults! Deer and Tule Elk from the sides, amazingly gourmet birdies from the top. Towhees and Mountain Chickadees are worse than the Ravens. Gophers, Voles, moles, and Mice from the bottom. I have most all bases covered. Voles and Mice still get in, and I think Gophers have gotten in as incidental travels. Gourmet gophers don't seem to prefer bean plants. Plus they are more visual than folks think, so on the north side where the ravine and forest is closest, I have white plastic up to hide things from their normal view. So far Raccoons have left it alone, as have the Bears. Nothing short of concrete will stop a determined bear, but they've left it alone. They have tons of Manzanita and Madrone berries. Sure don't want them discovering my bramble berries!!!

Oh! Those PXBT Beans have the coolest plants! I have this feeling they are part descended from a purple bean variety.

honeycomb's got a neat looking garden too. Mine is so big with row after row of beans it looks like a farm field. If I got a bad attack of japanese beetles couldn't you just see a crop duster plane flying over my garden with it's sparyer going. I get to compare a lot of different bean varieties, and I do enjoy it.

Beans are starting to flower. Pole beans are climbing. So far so good. I have two varieties that have only one sprouted seed. Need to check the records to find which bush beans they are, but I doubt they are from the seeds sent by Bluejay77.

Hello Major !

I watched your video this morning. Pretty neat production. It will be interesting to follow the progress of your plants. Do you think after the collapse of America there will be the electricy to run your CFL lighting? Or do you have some type of generator to create electricity for your house, and those plants? How long do you think before the collapse will happen? Have you done any videos on this subject?

As far as a collapse is concerned if and when it happens I will be using solar panels or a wind turbine as a generator. I will build whatever i may need then or go find a generator that is not being used lol. When will the collapse happen? Well I figure within the next 5-10 years.
