When I was younger and a control freak, I did it all by myself. Now I have a landscaper cut the grass and weedwack once a week. Thank God for teenagers who will dig holes for $10 a hour.

I have a little help here and there with the veggie garden. I do have to give explicit directions or demonstrate whatever i'm asking him to do though! He does enjoy helping with canning, and is pretty good at that! :D

Want to be lone gardener. After dealing with people all day, relief to just go play in dirt. Somehow the first tomato always disappears before I think it ready. Birds get it I guess?

And DH knows that it is not a good idea to bring me a phone or tell me that it's dark out.
^I've been there--TOO FUNNY!!^
I'm kinda the lone gardener. But I've gotten my DH involved, so he helps with some of the harvesting after persuasion. For instance, it took one cherry pie to get him and my DD's to help harvest the two tart cherry trees. I got 10 pies out of the 2013 harvest, and this year should be easier.
DH used to grow tomatoes before I met him. I bought him a 12 cell starter greenhouse with those hydrating soil cells. He's gonna plant his beefsteak seeds today and get them started on top of the fridge. HIS plans is to get tomatoes this year as early as possible.
:\
I'm frightened for his plants, BUT, I'll collect as many quart 1/2 and 1/2 containers as possible to protect them from the wind, so...
:hu
maybe they will be early.
He's given me order to GROW MORE OKRA!!! I can do that. We're eating a lot more than I thought that we would.
I think you need to train your help and keep your expectations LOW! :D

DH: "Where are you going?"
Me: *clutching seed packets* "Well I...erm..."
DH: "You know there isn't room for even one more plant in that garden.
Me: "See you had these buckets you weren't using and..."
DH: "You took my fish buckets???"
Me: "Not yet. Will you build me a planter?"

And now I have an 8 foot long planter. :) such is our gardening relationship.
