America's Funniest Home Videos had a turkey video that was screaming funny. The Mother put a Cornish Game hen inside the turkey. The daughter was to carve the turkey and she saw the hen inside the turkey. The mother then announced that the turkey must have been pregnant and the daughter weirded out. OMG! It was a momma turkey and we killed her baby!!! The mother really made the most of it and it was hilarious. She pulled the hen out of the turkey and was cradling the "baby" turkey!

Can you believe anybody is really that disconnected with their food?

Yes, unfortunately.

PROGRESSO! Oh NO!!! For sure he's gonna poison someone! :fl

Mary
@Nyboy, you are NOT going to poison your friends! Remember to keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold. That's the key to not poisoning here.

Don't be upset with Mary. Like me, she gets her soup from the garden, freezer and fridge and puts the ingredients together in a big pot for a long time of cooking. Getting Progresso from the store and calling it soup is heresy to some of us, but perfectly safe and acceptable for your holiday meal.

Embrace the process of cooking (I find it to be therapeutic) & you'll enjoy the meals so much more.

Pregresso soup is loaded with salt (as is most processed food). It's much healthier & fun to make your own from leftovers. For example, make a nice beef roast & eat off of it for a couple of days. then use the remaining leftovers to make a tasty soup or stew. Drop dead simple!!!

Get a roast & season it with cracked pepper & rosemary, wrap it in Saran Wrap & put it in the refrigerator overnight.

The next day, you just sear it on the grill & placed it in a roasting pan. Then add a quart of beef broth, a bottle of red wine &put it in the oven at 275 degrees.

After about 2.5 hours, add the veggies & put it went back in the oven for an hour or so. Then enjoy your next couple of evening meals.

Then you can use the 'left overs' & juice to make a hearty vegetable/beef/barley soup. That's loaded with stuff from the garden, such as corn, green beans, tomatoes, potatoes, kohlrabi, peas, onions, carrots & okra.

Eat that for a couple of days & then freeze the rest for quick, no fuss meals when you're busy with other stuff this winter. Try it & you'll be hooked!!! :thumbsup

Yup ... we cook a LARGE amount of meat at a time ... eat it for dinner, then add some different ingredients to the left overs , next day heat it up and you have a different dinner ... next day take those leftovers , add something else and you have another different meal. etc. . until the original meat is all gone. Saves lots of cooking time and ... YUM !!! :drool :thumbsup

Then there are these guys:

Steve
We would have some of our ground beef made into breakfast sausage. It only makes sense for me to continue making it 50 years later.

I've gotta say that having 1/3rd ground turkey in with the beef makes for very good sausage.
