Nyboy, what did you order? Aren't your guests bringing side dishes? I still think you should make something homemade. Since you only have to do 1 thing, it shouldn't be too hard.

Mary
Careful, @ninnymary, Nyboy has a choice -- neat or homemade. Even with the cleaning lady coming on Friday he wants Thanksgiving to start out neat. Besides, I'm sure his excellent choices include some things that are homemade by someone.

I am making the soup (progresso) friend is making baked ziti, another salad. Picking up from cafe turkey with dressing ( I don't know what dressing is) mashed potatoes, candi yams, green bean casserole, garlic bread and pumpkin pie. Have a great spiced wine that you heat up before severing, called Holiday only made this time of year. Wow I just realized I am making soup and wine . Thats more cooking then I ever do.

A way to get past the price - raise your own. They sure do eat a lot of food, but mine dressed out to about 50 lbs. We're eating it for Thanksgiving. I'll need to get a picture of it, this turkey looks like something from "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."

That reminds me, I still have to update that turkey thread.

Neither of us care for turkey & haven't had it in the 30 yrs we been married.

Our Thanksgiving meal here will consist on a nice 3" thick beef sirloin roast (smoked low & slow to a medium rare), potatoes, green beans, corn-on-the-cob & homemade bread. Dessert (pumpkin pie) is the the only 'traditional' item on the menu here.

America's Funniest Home Videos had a turkey video that was screaming funny. The Mother put a Cornish Game hen inside the turkey. The daughter was to carve the turkey and she saw the hen inside the turkey. The mother then announced that the turkey must have been pregnant and the daughter weirded out. OMG! It was a momma turkey and we killed her baby!!! The mother really made the most of it and it was hilarious. She pulled the hen out of the turkey and was cradling the "baby" turkey!

Can you believe anybody is really that disconnected with their food?
