@journey11, yes! Those black/purple poppies are the other color I've been trying to add. Fedco calls them black peony poppies.

I didn't try them this year. In the past, I started some indoors, but that year everything was too wet and the plants got some kind of blight or something. The whole plant rotted and turned to mush. I did get one to bloom, but didn't get them to self sow. I wonder how long the seed keeps, - I think I must still have some...

Beautiful Poppies! Love them both!
I can't fire volunteers unless there is WAY too many either. My excuse for bad weeding though is that if you wait til they get a bit taller you don't have to bend over so far to get them... It helps that I am rather short...
