1) my tractor already has all the muscle it needs
2) the cab would hinder my view
3) hand tools I find hard-to-use are exactly right to show off/develop the good stuff.
I see the term "vintage" used in CL ads a lot. I could be wrong, but looking at the pictures I have come to understand that "vintage" means beat up crap that's not necessarily old or valuable.
I believe there is a bit more to 'vintage' than what you suggest. Vintage is a rather generic word for objects from a previous era. It does not expressly imply quality or value so you are not too far off the mark, thistlebloom.
Talking about vintage and it's meaning ... just what does "character " actually mean since we hear it quite often when someone is buying or selling an old house ? When I hear it when someone is saying it about an old house , I think " RUN as fast as you can as it will cost you an arm and a leg to bring it back to its' original intended condition and use.
