Major', it was 40°f this afternoon after a morning low of 20°, supposed to be a little colder tonight. Sunny and continued unseasonably warm ...

When we came back from a drive, I could smell the Sunday barbeque smoke in the neighborhood!

@Carol Dee it was great to walk out door to feed horses, instead of driving miles.
Don't be flying in and out for that horse-care today.

CNN reporting that 961 American Airlines flights have been cancelled, many of those in and out of Dallas/Fort Worth.

The airport says that over half their arrivals and departures are cancelled.

I heard from my sister in Alaska today. She loves winter, and is complaining about the green grass! Warmest winter she ever remembers there.
Meanwhile in Maine ...

Weekend snow secures winter records for Maine, New England

I like how the report is "just the facts, ma'am." :) The headline editor didn't get much of the story, tho'. Record cold for the month is already secure, a week before it's over!

Steve
my little info above on Sunday neighborhood barbeques is a little misleading. highs in 40's and lows in 20's are normals here, at this time of year. so much sunshine isn't! & how about that moon?!

Winter has arrived. It's 29 this morning, ice on the troughs, light snow possible, not predicted to get above freezing today. What a contrast to the weekend. Carried everything back into the greenhouse last night.

Looks like almost everyone got blasted last night. -14° this AM but at least we have a few warmer days ahead, the weekend was brutal! Stoked up the wood burner, after discussing who was going out to get the wood. :D That toasty wood heat sure takes the chill off.

@baymule , I bet your horses are happier too.

We are iced/snowed in. No snow plows here! Horses hang out at fence, I think they watch us through windows LOL. trip and Paris (Pyrenees ) are having a blast in the snow. Parker and Polly are curled up on blanket in house. Chickens wander in and out of their makeshift coop and we are dozing in recliners. Still in pajamas. Loving the farm life! Just need wood burning heater / stove. :)

@majorcatfish, what did you cook those vegetables in? They smell yummy!
a little olive oil and a dash of dried herbs and a 1/4 teaspoon of horseradish then roasted in the oven..the steak was a flat iron cut with just salt and pepper. had some buttered sourdough bread to go along with it.
oh my that was delicious.....
