Mary, I am pretty sure Spring will come...just not sure when!! Spent the morning raking snow drifts off the roofs of the storage buildings. Windy, zero degrees- snow blowing in my face. What 's not to love??? Had 2 chickens die this week. Not sure why, but, the cold can't help. Counting the days....

Oh, sorry to hear that, Lesa. So close to laying time again too.

My coop stays pretty snug, but I think I will have to go out after dark all this week and close off the entry hole in bottom to keep any wind out.

Our wind chill this morning was -17 and we stayed home. I didn't want to take the kids out in that. We are supposed to get some snow now after all and quite a bit for here, 8-12" tomorrow. I'm afraid it will be way too bitterly cold for sledding just yet. Low of -13 by Thursday they're saying!

@catjac1975 , I bet you guys are really tired of shoveling! Snow like that would bring everything to a complete stop around here. We aren't used to getting so much.

I woke up to a very thin sheet of ice over everything from a freezing rain, some sleet on the ground above that, and about 1" of snow. Temperatures in the lower 20's. The power stayed on and I don't have to go anywhere so not much of an event for me, thank goodness. There are power outages further south. I feel sorry for those folks.

We got about a foot of snow, the lightest fluffiest snow you ever saw. I struggled to get some area cleaned out for those ungrateful chickens, who would rather stay in their house and complain.
I woke up this morning at 4 am with chest pain. don't know if it is my heart, or pleurisy or what. so I took it easy on the shoveling. DH was out trying to get the car uncovered, saw a truck with a blade across the road, went over and hired him to come blade off our drive. YEA! I know the highway dept. snow plows will pile up snow along the drive edge, but it won't be as bad as it could have been. Strong wind from northwest is causing some drifting, though.

Yes, I will remain aware of chest pain and go to the ER if it feels necessary. Heart trouble does not run in my family at all, and I have no other contributing factors...diet, cholesterol, habits, etc. Just my age. :( At least now we can maybe get out of the driveway.
