Looks like Smart Red is not the only one still doing the yearly regime set by the vets. YEP, We do! Although we are not very good at getting there on schedule and are subject to additional testing... just to be sure. Dh's dog is out and about often. He takes him lots of places. Mostly for runs in the woods. Dumb dog will eat ANYTHING.

@Smart Red - I hope you weren't angry about that post. I thought of that discussion as a debate, and I hold no malice to you or pet owners in general, simply offering a different perspective.

As far as vaccinations go - We titer test every year. It's not out of a particular fear of vaccines, but due to the severe reactions my dogs have had to vaccines in the past. Rocco would scream and cry if you touched his back at all days after a shot, and he's a very stoic dog. To get him through his puppy rounds he had to be drugged up on painkillers. None of my other dogs have reacted that way, but we titer them as well because Rocco's reactions scared me quite badly.

For us it was a $ issue simple as that. That's where it started. I know it sounds better of it was a health issue but it was really financially motivated.

After that when things got better for us we opted to stick with the practice because it was successful.

To those who vaccinate regularly that's fine I'm not here to preach obviously look at why we did it but it's simply what we do.
