Thanks everyone!

Mary - that's a korean mountain ash. I LOVE this tree. It has white flowers in the spring, orange/red berries in the summer and yellow leaves in the fall. My tree got stunted a few years ago when we had a very hard and long freeze in October. (I also lost one of my favorite japanese willows in the front and most of my snowball bush is still dead. I'm still upset about it. lol)

Very, very nice!

Kalivio, are you sure you need a fan? Is this for the louvered space that no longer has a louver?

Your roof vents and open door look like they may do well enuf thru the summer. I suppose that when you get everything repaired that you may not have as much ventilation and want to use a fan but it looks real open and well ventilated at the moment.

I leave the door open in the summer but it is on hinges. After a dozen years of doing this sort of thing, the door needs to be replaced. Maybe I can get it thru one more year. Critters show up in there at times - the sparrows won't stay out.

You are going to have a lot of fun with that!

Steve :)

Lovely garden- and fabulous greenhouse! I take the glass out of my doors in the greenhouse. You will be surprised how hot it gets in there- and how quickly things get mildew... The more air the better... Also, you will have to water a lot...If you can rig up some kind of drip irrigation, you would save a lot of energy. Looking forward to hearing about your greenhouse adventures- and Welcome!

Hmm - maybe I am being too proactive (read: worried) and I won't need one? I think I am just so scared that a month from now I'll be scrambling to get something in place because my plants are frying! lol

I'm sure there are a ton of things I am not anticipating, but I adore birds so if some sparrows decide to hang out in the greenhouse, I will photograph them for hours before going in there and shooing them away. ;)

Thanks for the advice!!

A drip irrigation system! That is something I was planning but haven't figured out yet. For now, I am hand watering. I have read that most people over-water, so I am learning all I can about that. It just dawned on my the other day that I am learning BOTH container gardening and greenhouse gardening. Lots to learn.

Hey Chris, thanks for the excellent links. I've been wandering aimlessly on amazon and it just got a bit overwhelming.

The price of a true exhaust fan with shutter and weather-resistant motor, etc. is not something I can swallow right now (especially since I have a lot of other expenses for the greenhouse and gardens this year and quite honestly, I'm saving up for a new macro lens for my camera...). But I will keep these links saved so that if I run out of inexpensive options (or they just don't work) I'll have to bite the bullet and buy one.

Thanks!
Jess
