We just put some yucca in here, and are really looking forward to seeing the blossoms. These have variegated foliage, so they will be attractive even when not in bloom.

@Nyboy , its possible that something other than deer is responsible. The flowers spikes are long lived, yours might be decorating someone's kitchen table.

Interesting as we have deer in herds and they leave mine alone. Figure the leaves too prickly for them. Plus nearby bean & corn fields to destroy....

@seedcorn, I notice that they will sample everything we plant here. Sometimes they never eat it again, sometimes they will devour it. I can say that the deer netting works great, it so far has stopped them from eating our garden.

I have plants of that sort, called bear grass. They bloom yearly. My sheep will eat the center out of them.

Seed the flower stalk raises well above leaves. Mine is variegated and your right it is goodlooking year round. My friend used to work in a florist shop on the upper east side, he told me his boss gets the best hydrangea blooms from the junkies that pick them in Central park. Maybe my flower stalk is sitting in a vase in someones house.
