Don't know about that ...

Something I was reading about lately, altho' I just skimmed the surface.

Long-term depression in men, rejected by women. Sometimes it is a difficult cause in diagnosis and I think that there is resistance by men to admit that it can be so serious. But, think about it. Not too many women go b-sh' loonie as did Delta and her sisters. Men, way too often, are homicidal/suicidal.

Turning as quickly as possible from that - women are probably more in touch with emotions and, generally, better able to heal. They may go on to a happy life with another companion. Men, American men, have something to learn.

Personally, if a woman did that to me, I'd send her a thank you card every year. Disaster averted......
I agree, seedcorn. Being married to the Cad would have been far worse a fate then being left at the altar. She may not have realized it, but in my humble opinion she got off lucky.

Indeed, the madness may well have shown itself if they had married. That makes both of them lucky to have averted the disaster of a life together.

That's probably a healthy way to think about failure in a relationship, Smart Red.

Women usually go for the whole package. The life-style, extended family, home, kids, husband. The guy is in it for the girl. Of course my own idea was if a girl was willing to have anything to do with me, I must be kinda okay. However, my place on any list might not be where I'd feel very comfortable.

Robin Williams' suicide prompted quite a conversation about suicide and men's mental health. It should be talked about. Suicide is 3 times more common in men than women. Robin Williams may have been an older guy with other serious health problems but suicide is the number one cause of death in young men.

We not only have the fairly common phenomena of women living on this planet longer than men but a new falling life expectancy among a fairly large group of American men.

Always trying to tough it out doesn't work. I came across something about astronauts and a flight to Mars. A voyage that arduous requires resilience and that resilience leads to toughness of a particular nature which may have little to do with simple notions of manly strength or being a winner, of some sort or another. (Did I just equate a male perspective on a relationship with a trip beyond the orbit of the moon? Of course, I did ;).)

What was funny none of the guys at the party brought wives or girlfriends. Most of the talk all night was about woman and sex.A lot of bragging, but when a wife called there was almost panic, a few guys had to ask permission to stay out later. Despite their talk of being king of the castle, they where ruled by the Queen.

OH, yes. Been there, haven't done that. I may tell her when I'll be home.
