And, then chew them out for not ripping the siding off it?

What if they decide to sue because the ridgepole isn't straight?

What if they used my fenced garden for a corral (they did) and their horse got out and ran off because I never put any fence anywhere else on the place.

What if they burned the barn in anger because they came out of the loft and fell off the landing because I never got around to putting up a rail?

Both owners have now lived there longer than I did. Other than that, and through satellite imagery, I'd say that we have little in common. The current owner seems only interested in hiding away from the world. Of course, I don't really know. He may spend a lot of time down at The Little Brown Jug on the weekends.

About the most serious "workmanship" I was involved in out there was getting that 26', 8" ridgepole on top a 1 1/2 story log house! By myself ... But, I was young and foolish.

Hey, @catjac1975 !

Do you watch Neighborhood Kitchens?

I'm like never gonna make it to the Massachusetts coast but it's a cooking show as well as a restaurant one. Somehow, I can imagine @dickiebird (and others) hanging out in these places - if he could get his pickup to carry him that far.

I have never heard of it. Perhaps a more local show? Our local ed TV have Victory garden, forever-a garden grown in Boston at their public TV station. This Old House is still on and was our inspiration for doing almost all of or renovATIONS for our 100 year old house. I have seen local grown and cooked segments on an occasional victory garden . Some how much of the local shows are gone or barely on anymore. I will look for the show you suggested.

No need to worry about my p/u making it to the east coast, the big concern would be why would I want to go there?????

Some of these restaurants look like nice places,

good food,

friendly people. Besides having a special ride for getting around, I remember you saying that you do home cooking only on special occasions.

Now, how do I explore the Missouri cuisine without going all that distance :)?
