All this talk about This Old House :). In our house, Norm was called "The New Yankee." I understand that the producer of both shows hired Norm, originally, as a carpenter for a home remodel.

No, the Victory Garden is long gone. The "chef visits the farm" parts of the several shows are okay but there isn't much depth to the horticulture. Still, when they get the produce back to the kitchen - there we go :)!

I'll see what UNH has for a lineup. It's been a little bit of a learning experience. I'm not gonna download apps all over the place but there are so many shows on the PBS app, it's daunting! When I only have a name on a list, I have to guess at the subject of the show. There isn't always Wikipedia information and there would be a huge number of shows to sort through.

I bet all of you would be surprised that beyond the big 10 or 12 -- how many PBS shows are very limited in the number of stations broadcasting.

I'll tell you what though, it's a great way to get a "flavor" of a location that is probably taken 99% for granted by the locals ;). Unless we were to visit and hang around, drive back roads, pound sidewalks, etc. for weeks/months!

I wonder if a Canadian Broadcasting app would allow me to explore Vancouver and the Island ;). How about Ontario and Quebec? I could watch the CBC shows my grandfather enjoyed while he was growing up in the 1890's .... oh ... well, I just bet that there are local history, travel and cooking shows ;)!

Oh, hey! @Chickie'sMomaInNH !

There is NHPTV's "Windows to the Wild," an
award-winning outdoor series which "explores New England."

Still, they went to Iceland just to see the country. I wonder how the bird shows are filed ... travelled right across North America and even Mexico. You know, that "night sky" episode? So, everyone in the northern hemisphere is right there with New Hampshire, looking up.

@digitS' i haven't watched that show in some time. my parents seem to enjoy that now that they are both retired & have nothing better to do than watch the cats watching the birds & squirrels at their feeders. and cruise around NH/ME on one of my dad's Goldwings.

Here's one you might enjoy if you ever think of traveling to NH & wanted to go to Mt Washington. it's about the Cog Railroad that you can take up to the top of the mountain. i only recommend doing this in the middle of summer since they have a very short warm season at the top. it's called Mt. Washington Cog Railway: Climbing to the Clouds. I have skied at Bretton Woods that is just across from the mountain and as a kid/teen it was really neat to see the Cog tracks running up the side of the mountain running up into the clouds that would surround the top. as the day warms up those clouds begin to sink a little & before the day was done the clouds would venture back to the top of the mountain.

if anyone is thinking of traveling this direction here's some pics of that area. http://brettonwoods.com/activities/photos_and_cams?canopy tour for me this is about a 1 1/2-2 hour trip with all the winding roads to get up there.

So @Chickie'sMomaInNH . You think maybe I could ride a motorcycle again??

I thought olde people should only be concerned about neighbor kids on the lawn, the toilet habits of their tiny dogs, and the letter carrier and garbage truck deliveries ...

Maybe I stand apart by anticipating those garbage truck deliveries??

I saw that on there! You know, your Mt Washington is famous nationwide because of its severe weather. At 6,000 feet, it isn't all that high but putting it where the storms from every direction hit it, was a pretty big mistake!

Thank you for informing me that Bretton Woods is near you! Mt Washington couldn't be seen from the Connecticut community I visited but I thought Bretton Woods must be in Europe!

Here is what it has meant to me: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bretton_Woods_system

Like to See @baymule 's Part of the Country?

Well, one or so ideas on Texas, anywho!

I cast it up on the 40" screen and sat real close. Of course, the obstacle course the good old boys ran through may inspire a similar setup on my track here in the house (it snowed again). And, what the heck was that gift from Bigfoot they have there in the museum ..? Well, just ignore that and check out the cuisine, there in East Austin, or anywhere else Texas you'd like to go in 26 minutes!

Good find Steve! I have been to a lot of the featured towns and lived in some of them. I love shows that go to places and show you things and places that you didn't know, or knew little about.
