I added the honey because I just couldn't get the specific gravity high enough to suit me :D If I remember right I think I used about five pounds for a 5 gal. fermenter. I'm big on experimenting so it could have been more. Looks like your watermelons are off to a good start!

Uh oh, one of the orange meated watermelon plants stuck her little head up out of the soil today

Yep, I am excited. Now, in about 90 days I should be making watermelon wine. Makes me want to go check on my hard apple cider and my strawberry wine.

Also, I found this picture and thought that it might interest some of yall, I know I am interested

I have trouble staying out of homemade wine too. I always say I'm gonna let it age and that usually lasts about six months especially with something I've never made before. You'll have to put the watermelon wine on lockdown.

You know... you guys keep getting me interested in homemade wines. I once helped my friend Corey make homemade beer. That was fun!

Now I'd really like to learn how to make wine. Someday I will have the grapes for it... and around that time I should have plenty of apples for hard cider and maybe some apricots for something special.

You should start a how too step by step thread. I know I would be watching and drooling!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know there is a WINE area in the Bakespace.com forums! I recently found it. It talks about kinds, people talk up brands... and YES... people talk about making it!!!

There is also an area there where people make their own cheese...

and of course TONS and TONS of recipes!!!

I just got another one for making spinach dip from there, and I just whipped up a batch to have on some chips for a snack tomorrow.

I even started an area of there for growing one's own food... and sharing recipes using fresh fruit and veggies rather then frozen or processed ones. :D Its gotten some great feedback. I even suckered someone into getting CHICKENS!!! :gig
