Schools here are closed for tomorrow. Going down below 0 tonight and the temps aren't getting above 10 tomorrow. I told my daughter she wasnt going to school if they hadn't closed. That's just too cold for kids to be waiting for a bus.

I guess we are used to it! Bundle up. Lots of layers. Negative teens again. Day time highs in single digits. It will be shorts weather Sunday with 32 temp.

With the wind chills here it will be around -20. The temp isnt going into the double digits at all today. Most people think the kids should have to go to school in weather like this, we are not used to this kind of cold weather in WV. Especially the kids. My brother asked me why I would keep my DD home because of the temperature, because it's too dangerous for her to be out there. Frost bite sets in fast with these temperatures.

Never heard of school closing for temperature, snow yes.
I don't remember that either. However, where I went to high school, half the school buildings had open hallways. Ridiculous!

When the wind was bad, the stairwells were like descents into hell. The upper hallway (balcony) was crazy. A rainy place, the wind would blow the rain against the walls and classroom doors. They have since enclosed that balcony with windows. I don't know what other improvements they have made over 50 years ... probably don't have the teepee burner just passed the athletic field ...

In Medford Oregon where it seldom snows, we had some cold weather ;). I honestly can't remember if it was 2 above or 2 below. But. Our pipes froze! Being a little better prepared would be a good thing but we need to understand, people in some places think they only require something like that South Carolina snow plow @canesisters has a picture of in the humor thread :D.

the weather people just like to make up new names for things. last year it was the polar vortex...

-3F this morning when i checked forecast. we had to run errands yesterday and with the windchill it was pretty cold, but nice to see the sun. it isn't often in the middle of the winter we have so many sunny days in a row. but clear weather also means very cold overnight.

i don't even bother listing windchills. they've been from -30F to -10F most recent nights. since i don't go outside at night that's not something i worry too much about. i have good boots, coat, etc. the only thing i really wish i had for some days were good winter goggles so my eyes would tear up from the cold/breeze.
