Weather Where You Are

From the National Weather Service, about 4 hours ago:

Laura made landfall near Cameron, Louisiana, around 0600 UTC (1 am CDT) with maximum sustained winds of 130 kt, which is near the high end of category 4 status. At the time of landfall, Laura was a ferocious looking hurricane with a clear circular eye, an intense
eyewall, and tightly-coiled surrounding spiral bands.

130 it is 150 miles per hour, 241 kilometers per hour

My niece lives in east Texas, not far from the Louisiana border. The report on down trees in the interior was further east than that border. It could be a very direct path north but electric outages number in the hundreds of thousands of customers. I also read that the east-west interstate highway was closed last night.

TWC was predicting the US10 would be flooded. I am SO SORRY for anybody hit by a hurricane. We get tornadoes, CONDITION warnings only, but the winds are the same or higher, only around for minutes or even seconds. I am expecting rain from Laura today and tomorrow bc the bands are THAT FAR REACHING.
If you are it's path don't take any chances, it is STILL an inland hurricane and won't lose it's tropical storm characteristics and MAY exit to the Atlantic and reform. NOT impossible.

We have power, it rained a bit last night, but even my big Great Pyrenees, Trip was happy to go back outside at 10:45 last night, he is terrified of thunder. He didn't claw at the door last night in a desperate attempt to wake us up and get back in, so I surmise that the weather was not bad while we slept. We are fine.

We may see some rain from the hurricane system as it moves north. Not exactly from the hurricane but the effects on pressure systems. It has been really hot and humid again this week. By Friday they are predicting a high pressure stem to be drawn down with cooler temps sparking some rain/thunder storms. They will be welcome.

it is very humid out there now, even with a good breeze i'm sweating like mad. a band of storms was coming at us but they broke up before they got here so i only had a few drops of rain from that.

18c mainly clouded.

We've had a nice morning and early afternoon, just got ready to walk my best friend and it's started to rain
Here is where the sun was a moment ago

Its going to be a huge struggle to keep my garden and foundation plants alive for the next NINE days. NINE forecasted days of over 100 degrees.

There goes the garden and my power bill and water bill.

Winter can't get here soon enough so we can have some blessed rain.

We just had a hot dry spell too, the temps are coming back down, only 80 today and mid 70's the rest of the week. Garden and flower beds suffered. Weeds thrived! A 50% chance of Rain Friday brought nothing :( So not holding much hope for the 20% chance tomorrow .
