Where is your son? Do you know what fire he is fighting?

Thanks Bay. The fires here are not close enough presently to put us in danger at our place, but we pray for the safety of those everywhere in fires path, and for all the firefighters. Kid#1 spent 30 days in Nevada, then they brought them back to their base camp in McCall ID to tend all the lightening strike fires. He did a wilderness fire in the Frank Church wilderness. Ordinarily they don't allow air support or chainsaws for fighting wilderness fires, but this one was close to the town that is the gateway to that area, so they did allow them to use those things.
Last I heard from him they were anticipating flying out to support other firefighting efforts in the southwest, but right now I don't know where he is.

My deepest respect for the dangerous work your son is doing, and my continued prayers for his safety.

This is where I have been finding information on some of the fires in southern Oregon. A fire from the south burned right into the city of about 80,000 - it looks like it did an incredible amount of damage to the smaller communities on that southside.

Then, a smaller city north of those 80,000 residents began to burn. This is near @Rhodie Ranch 's home. The 17,000 people there were told by authorities to evacuate, yesterday. The threat level has apparently been reduced and, I guess, some residents are returning.

Nearby communities must really be feeling the stress of so many people being displaced. Authorities were telling people where they could go and asking them to park and stay in their cars. This, in 100° heat.

You all can only imagine what its been like here for three days. Lets just say that when David Muir on ABC news last nite leads with Medford OR, its major news. Half of Phoenix is gone, prob 70% of Talent is gone. Then an hour after I got gas at Costco and then dropped of two bags of toiletries to the Expo (fair grounds next to Medford) a huge fire broke out there. New Costco is still standing. Planes dropped retardant around the Expo cus there are over 1000 ppl there and no where to take them, much less what to take them in. "Central Point fire"

Obenchain fire right behind Eagle Point, my town, is going to decimate Shady Cove and Trail. Its at 50K acres so far. Power outages galore. All of Medford and surrounding communities are ordered to turn off all exterior water cus the demand for fire fighting is extreme. Huge airplanes dropping red retardant all day yesterday. Too smokey to fly so far this morning, even for the lead small plane which the huge plane follows to know where to drop.

I'm becoming an expert in fires (jk). Rim fire in Yosemite. Butte fire in Mountain Ranch. Taylor Creek fire in Grants Pass. Now these fires.

Lots of oregon is lost east of Salem and Eugene too. Entire towns toasted. hundreds of thousands of acres now crispy.

Humidity for three days has been in the single digits.

I told my ex (who is back with me) that if Jesus is coming, I want to be able to cling to him while the world ends.

Oh My Goodness! How scary for all. Sending prayers these fires will be under control & out out soon. Praying for safety of firefighters and all in the path of the fires.
