Weather Where You Are

@Ridgerunner we will send u our rain IF we could. Too wet to plant. Too cold for what is planted to grow.

the fields around us have finally dried out enough to get going. the night before and yesterday there were tractors in fields and dust flying. it will probably be the same today. forecast is for rain tonight.

we are mowing and i may otherwise take the day off or do some light stuff for a change.

@seedcornIn some ways I feel bad about mentioning that I'm eating fresh garden-grown tomatoes and green beans and expect to eat my first corn next week, but then I think about some of the advantages you will have over me in the heat of summer and don't feel that bad.
Yeah, sure you do. & you haven’t even posted pix of your tomatoes.... No pix, didn’t happen.....

One heck of a thunderstorm last night with lots of lightening and a bit of hail. Thank goodness the newly planted flowers are o.k. Yesterday got to the upper 80's and humid. Ugh, Cooler today with rain showers.

Actually I have. I posted my first Sweet Millions a while back. I took the photo on April 22 but can't remember what thread I posted in or exactly when.

Post 242 in this thread. https://www.theeasygarden.com/threads/what-are-you-eating-from-the-garden.21859/page-25

@seedcorn I know people are struggling to get things planted, farmers as well as gardeners. Some of that is latitude related but some is just bad weather. We had 5" of rain in a few hours last week-end but nothing significant even forecast for the next ten days. Of course that's a long way out for down here, that forecast could change later today.

Your garden makes me want to go plant more. I remember being where it is hot and advantages of here, but then I remember the heat and I am not sure which I would rather have.

it seems that the plants do better here too with rain water. i think our well water is ok but it does have a little rust and calcium in it. rain water has some trace elements and nitrogen compounds (aka fertilizer :) ) in it.

i also love that i don't have to spend time watering and if it rains hard enough i can get a break. :)

besides, it smells so good when it rains and i like thunderstorms and the sound of the rain coming down.

My garden just sits and barely grows until it rains. My cats love drinking rain water and my seedlings change when I get some rain water for them, and when it is all gone I can tell a difference with the to tap water.
