@thistlebloom, FIRST time making ANYTHING from my rhubarb, a strawberry rhubarb pie. Got mixed reviews--one DD loved it, DH didn't care for it, other DD told me it was my best crust. See..mixed.
Any other recipes? Also, how do you prep to freeze rhubarb? Thanks! :hugs
For anybody with rhubarb, pull the toxic leaves and put them right up against the plant to suppress weeds, btw.

It's so easy, just pick, wash and chop. I put it on cookie sheets and let it freeze for a couple of hours then pour into ziplock backs to store. Freezing them spread out first keeps them loose in thestorage bag so you can measure out what you want and put it back.

We like blueberry rhubarb pie.

Made a quiche with our own eggs, leeks, potatoes, and kale (plus a little ham I had left over in the fridge and some swiss and cheddar)! And I finished the last of my homemade pie crust from the freezer, so I'll be making another batch of that soon....

i gave a pile of rhubarb to our elderly friends who we call Grandma and Grandpa. they were my brother's neighbors for some years and still do not live far away from him so he was the agent of transport. i didn't want to give them a bigger pile because it would take a while to process it and maybe they had other things planned for the week... :)

that was earlier in the week. today i had a friend and her husband drop in and she wanted some rhubarb too so we picked through most of what was left. i don't like to thin it out too much as it does help keep the grass back along that edge in check. still if i wanted to make something i could get enough. some of the stalks will grow two to three inches across, but this year most of them are on the smaller side. lack of sunshine.

some strawberries are getting red enough to pick. :)
