Finally planted some seeds in flats today. Unfortunately, I discovered the "soil" I bought wasn't seed starter but a more peaty mix, hopefully, it will still work okay.

Tomatoes:

Glacier
Stupice
Moskovich
Marmande
Black Cherry
Sweet Millions
Martino Roma
Tumbling Tom red and yellow
Big Rainbow
Costoluto Genovese
Parks whopper improved

and some purple prudens I found left over from 2006
and yellow pear from 2001

sweet pickle pepper

Holly HOcks Happy lights and Indian Spring

Dianthus Ideal Violet

and some very old coreopsis early sunrise

no idea if the old ones will sprout but one can only try.

Only reason I'm starting these a month earlier than normal is to put them out in May in walls of water. Otherwise, none of these could go out till June.

Nice to have stuff started, that's for sure. :happy_flower

Let's see .... yesterday I put kale and collards in (seeds). Earlier in the week I planted some onions, spinach, carrots, beets, more spinach, peas, garlic chives, and more spinach. :)
Today I hope to get the zuc seeds in, maybe some cuc seeds in, and .... basil! And more this weekend! But I've got more "dirt work" to do first.

What's weird about the heat HERE is the high dewpoints.
I felt like I was working in my June garden this weekend!!
This weekend I planted 100 sugar snap peas, 15 spring bulbs, and one indoor potato (up about 12 inches). I started Crimson Cushion Beefsteak tomatoes, Roma tomatoes, and this morning I started Cherokee Purple tomatoes.
Wouldn't have planted more but I'm still garden and yard prepping. :(
Don't know WHY I was shy about digging up the yard at our previous 1/4 acre house. I think I've moved 1/4 acre of dirt in the last 2 years!!!

Did more dirt work today, and planted 8-Ball Zuc, more beets, more spinach, and a couple Patty Pan Squash (all seeds).
Oh, and some strawflower seeds. Hope they grow/bloom this year ... last year, they didn't!

Also picked up 4 tomato, 2 pepper, and 2 mint plants when I was in town. Need to let the wind and the pending storm pass before even thinking about putting them in the ground!

I planted snow peas yesterday and today. The poplar trees and tag alders are all gone to seed, a month early and the maple tree buds are swelling. Insane weather, I sure hope we don't get a hard freeze after this!

I'VE GOT GERMINATION! I'VE GOT GERMINATION! :weee

I don't know what they are but I know most are tomatoes! I don't want to take the lid off till more of them germinate! I think keeping them upstairs in the dining room which is much warmer than the basement really helped. Once the majority have sprouted I may take them downstairs and turn on the grow lamps.

after reading all these posts I had to start something

Kale
broccoli
broccoli Rabb
Zinna
Swiss Chard
Asian Greens
Parsley

I use a soil block maker I have found it gets the job done and saves money on flats and I dont have to wash anything but the tray they are in after it is empty...

I havent even sent in a seed order yet...the seeds I am using are only a year or 2 old...so I should get good germination...

I can't believe my peas are struggling and there may not be peas this year. :( 80 degrees constantly and they are just not growing anymore. I planted in mid-feb and they just came up to about 3" tall and quite. Some of them are turning yellow from the heat! UGH!

So I went ahead and planted the following today:

3 Rows of Sweet Corn
16 Sunflowers
a bunch of pink zinnia seed
and transplanted a few columbine volunteers

I am enjoying today so much, I think I'm going to harvest the last cabbage for cole slaw tonight and grill out. May even go hit the nursery today and grab a few more plants for the heck of planting! hahaha
