When I brush my dog I take the extra fur and sprinkle it in the garden. This repels many animals and maybe cats if they are afraid of dogs. You just have to be sure and rinse the little dog hairs away when you pick your vegetables!

Hmmm... no dog to do that with. I can try the pepper... and my neighbor (who's cat it is!) was complaining about needing to cut away the blackberry shoots coming in through her hedges. Maybe I'll cut them for her and place them in the bed.

I already have fox glove seeds sprinkled in there...

Thanks for the reply so quick, I'm going to plant those other columbine seeds... but I only have 20 seeds, and I don't want them to goto waste if they won't grow there.

I did mulch it though!

I have not found anything to keep the cat out ,other than laying stuff around the plants so the cat cant dig like a nice size rock and a few boards here and there , I do this till the plants get larger and cover the dirt ,then the cat doesn't mess with them. I think it's the nice fresh dirt that cat's love .

darn! And I wanted to plant garlic!!!
So plant it! I planted mine today. I'm three weeks later than usual, but I've planted it this late before and had a great crop the following summer.

Only thing that keeps cats away from anything is yelling, "come here kitty," or "time to go to the VET!" in my experience.

You could try planting catnip in your neighbor's yard, maybe?
