What Did You Do In The Garden?

I was transplanting tomatoes and I asked my 5 year old to take some pictures of the garden for me. He usually takes very nice pictures but today he was grumpy and this is what he took. There are lot more just like these. LOL.

it happens. :) in the future he'll likely forget about the negative day and recall the gardening with fondness. as long as you don't make a big issue out of things a lot is forgiven or forgotten. :)

I try to relax when the kids are in the garden with me. He is my garden buddy. He notices things before I do. Here is his garden. His 7 year old sister has one too. I'll have to post her garden picture. She isn't very excited about gardening but she sure loves to eat all the produce.

There might be a shortage of fresh garlic coming up this fall. China imports alot of it into our country, and they've been disrupted. Be sure to plant some of your own this fall, if you can find some American heads of garlic.

i can supply some seed garlic this fall for some people in the north who want to put in some hard neck garlic. i don't have that big of a patch, but i can usually come up with some extra to share around. PM me later this summer...

I like that illustration, @Dirtmechanic .

It's not that I have lots of watermelon. I have given up on even early varieties. However, there are other melons and I really might be labeled as a "melonhead." Yeah, they have been real important to me since I was a kid.

Ideas on ripening apply but I will get down on hands and knees to smell some varieties ;).

I love watermelon! Mine has started putting out blooms.

Pulled my sugar snaps today and picked off the last of the pods for next years seeds. Found a few still good to eat, so had breakfast out in the garden. My gd helped hunt the pods with me.

I got my soaker hoses out today. Finished by lunch, but it was a sweaty chore.

Noticed a butt load of beans on the vines. Should start picking soon.

Before and after weeding the strawberry patch. Our 2 kids helped and it sure made the task more fun and fast! Harvested handful of strawberries which we had for dinner. We get strawberries but they are so small. Anything I can do to make the fruit bigger? They taste bit tart too. Half the plants are new this year.
