My potatoes in the burlap bags going gangbusters, even the bean seeds have sprouted...
it has been one of the wettest springs on record but winter was the same way now they
claim we may see some sun

After my stops at insurance agent and repair shop, I mowed, and mowed and mowed hoping to beat the upcoming rain. Still too much mowing to do, but it does look better. Perhaps later I can get into the veggie garden

The neighbor's garden is planted. All in dahlias ... 18' x 35'. They won't be in their usual 35' x 35' garden this year. Sounds like we downsized by exactly half, right? Well, not so ... the dahlias are taking a chance in the big garden. That's where the wind broke some of them at the soil surface in 2015. We will try to be optimistic.

It was something of a mess finishing up in the neighbor's garden because the soil is so wet. However, there are advantages with having about 50% gravel.

95 here but there was a nice breeze and it wasn't humid, so not too bad at all. Sure did help some blooms open around here, peonies, roses and honeysuckle loved the heat!

Planted pumpkins, watermelon and another flat of lettuce today.

Heat is just a distant dream...
I'm sitting here in sweatpants, wool socks and a heavy hoody with a blanket on my lap.
We don't have a fire going, but it wouldn't be unwelcome. So damp and gloomy out!

I had and altercation with one of the State Of Wisconsin's deer Tuesday on my way home from Janesville. It seems a young doe tried to push my new car off her road. Damaged my front wheel area, driver's door and rear passenger's door in one fell swoop.

$4,000 in damage to my vehicle. Totaled the deer. Since I didn't hit her, and the State says they "OWN" the deer population, I figure the state owes for my repairs. Of course, the insurance agent says it won't work that way. Sigh!

Can't get the car in for a month to be repaired. At least it is drivable in the meanwhile. Fortunately, no one was hurt. Can't get too upset over things that can't be avoided.

This AM, planted watermelon and honeydew seeds that had been soaking. Started okra seeds soaking. Will plant tonight.
