No splits at all. The only tomato variety I have had splitting trouble with are purple Cherokees, so I just didn't grow those this year. Got another handful this morning and just ate them in a salad. Mmmmmmmm!
I was out of town for most of the week, and when I went out to the garden last night, I picked about 2 quarts of green beans! First ones this season! My tomatoes are behind schedule, but I was able to get a Kelloggs breakfast last week - yummmmmmm!!!! There also is a golden sweet melon out there that I think is ready to harvest. I'm going to wait til later to pick it so I don't burst into flame out there!
But, there are varieties that are really likely to split. I think it has much more to do with the flexibility of the skin than its toughness. SunSugar has a tender skin but rarely splits.
I grew Black Cherry last year. While they didn't split on the vines very often but after harvesting, I'd rinse them and dang near every one would split!
