No. I have layers. They don't have any meat on them. could use them for broth but it's not worth the trouble. Have a friend who sells me her chickens for 10 cents a pound. Can't beat that....

No, you can't beat that!!!! I use my layers and spare cockerels but they are definitely worth the trouble, even smaller ones like the BAs(those I'll normally just breast, thigh and leg them), as my WR gals are often as meaty as most DP roosters.

I get 50 hens in at a time, keeping a total of 200. I give mine to a friend's petting zoo to sort out the friendly ones and probably takes the test to market...she may get some eggs out of the ones she keeps. more power to her....I get over 700 eggs a week...lol

yes, Mary. Sorry for the misspelling!
I love pozole and tried making it once from a recipe a friend gave me. Didn't taste all that great. Another friend has given me hers but I haven't made it yet. She has you roast the chilis where in the first recipe I used powdered form. Told me that was a big no no haha.
