Ours is around 2.99. Honestly, once they had us used to paying almost 4 bucks a gallon- I never thought they would let it go so low.... 28 dollars to fill my car, just about half what it was.
sometimes pennies are not worth it when it comes to fuel. use to fill my truck up at murphys <walmart> figured heck .5 cents difference was great, keep having to replace my fuel filter every oil change only took a couple time to figure it out the problem. so switched and payed the .5 more and and that cured problem somewhat
since i totalled my car i am back driving the truck everyday now going to the shell station down the road and my mileage has increased pulling a respectable 19-19.5 per gallon.
as for gasoline some states allow a percentage of ethanol my state allows up to 10% have a friend that works at one of the tank farms here, when a tanker truck comes in to be filled for a station <will use walmart> if that walmart is asking for 1000 gallons of reg 10% of that will be ethanol or 100 gallons. yes you get a great price.
now if that same tanker truck gets a order for lets say <shell> with in companys business rules that same 1000 will have only 60 gallons of ethanol and even lower in their premium.. cars get poorer mileage when theres a higher amount of ethanol. mom and pop stations with lower fuel prices is not always the best bet either.
try this fill your car up at <walmart> zero out your odometer check your mileage on that tank write it down, the next time you service car go fill up at a shell zero it out again bet you find that you get better milage.
this was all done on cruise control....
have a 97 f-350 7.3l 325+ k
drive 500 miles a week
walmart would have fuel twice a week 10-12 mpg =41 gpw <gallons per week>
shell fuel once a week 19-19.5 mpg avg =25 gpw
had a 08 nissan altima 2.5l 105k
drove it 500 miles a week
was fueling at wilco hess 24-25 mpg =20 gpw
then started fueling at shell 27-29 mpg =17 gpw
do the math is it worth those few pennies?
