This DH, he can sleep through a tornado. But if a flea happens to pass wind....2 rooms over....he's ON IT.

One night, not too long ago, I happened to remember I didn't put my refill pill bottle down by my side of the bed. No matter. I would just get it when I took my bathroom trip. So, on about 1am, I am using the flashlight to find my refill Rx bottle. I find it, then head to the kitchen to feed the cat. Light flips on. :ep
DH is standing behind me and tells me how he almost shot me by thinking I was a burglar.
Whatever. I asked him if he happened to roll over first and heck my side of the bed. NOBODY, in the 8 yrs we have been here, has ever broken into the house. smh :hu:idunno
I went back to bed.

I hear just about everything. Hubs yells "Be quiet" every time one of our dogs barks. I say to him "Don't do that! It might be important!"
I get up and prowl around with a flash light while Hubs falls back to sleep. I've seen two possums, a raccoon and smelled quite a few skunks at night.

We all dream.

My dream last night (the part I remember) was me sitting on the ground. Nearby was a goat, lying down. It must have been a nanny goat because I reached out to pet it. It was startled, jumped up and ran a few yards before stopping. Then, it returned to me, laid down again with its head on my knee.

An aside: We have had goats before and this wouldn't be entirely uncharacteristic. I don't want to say too much about their personalities for fear of encouraging NyBoy into tormenting his neighbors with yet another pet ... Anyway, they may be more self-serving than dogs with owners but nanny goats are intelligent critters. By comparison to sheep, geniuses!

So, we have strange dreams, quite divorced from our everyday dreams which might be about identical to everyday activities and circumstances.

I'm going to sound seriously sensory impaired but ... remember that my sight improved in recent years but ... that's seeing detail at a distance. I'm like many of the older generations, bright light makes it difficult for me to see and I don't see well in the dark. (Hate to drive in the dark and have never enjoyed it!)

Add to that, I have seasonal allergies. That doesn't just mean that I sneeze. My eyes are red and sight blurs.

So, do I not see things as I pass by, especially if the light isn't good? Sure. Do I think I see things, especially movement, on the periphery of my vision? Sure. Do I fully know what is going on around me? You're kidding, right? Do I sometimes think that I prefer it that way? :)

There are/were 2 events involving the moon that I was trying to find out about, yesterday.

One is the total lunar eclipse occurring Friday, July 27. (Unfortunately, it is occurring at midday here so ...)

The other event was the moon moving into Capricorn on the 28th. Supposed to be a big deal, people into astrology said. Oh! So, this is happening?

No, it was JUNE 28 the moon was in Capricorn! I misread the months. Old news. Anyway, maybe thinking about Capricorn, the moon and what it might have meant ~ having missed it completely  ~ a goat visited me in my sleep.

By comparison to sheep, geniuses!

My experience with goats and sheep have been vastly different, wherein the goats were complete rebellious idiots and the sheep were uber intelligent. Just got to have the right sheep...and, apparently, the wrong goats. ;)

All lights out in the house except for a small one out in the foyer, which I cannot see from my room. I hate sleeping with a light on in the house, even small ones.

Mom locks the front door but I do not lock the door nearest my room, the back door. In my own house, I never locked the doors except when leaving on a trip, then I'd leave the key in the door in case anyone needed to get in to use the bathroom or phone.

Being an old mother, and that mother instinct never seems to fade, my hearing at night is entirely selective. Expected noises are duly ignored and I sleep like the dead through them, while unexpected noises~a baby snuffling around getting ready to awaken, excessive aggressive barking by the dogs, or knocking on the door or window can have me springing out of bed like I'm on speed.

Yes, I investigate noises that wake me up, as I know if they awakened me they are out of the ordinary or needing my urgent notice.

I was very lax about locking doors when I went to bed till I was broken into. That changed every thing, sometimes if I just have a bad feeling I will also set the alarm before bed.

The power went out last night. When that happens, the smoke alarms chirp every 10mis or so until it either comes back on or the batteries die.
My dogs played "Red Light - Green Light" from 9:30 until about 2:30.
"CHIRP!" scurry, scurry, scurry to a hiding place and freeze...... "CHIRP!" scurry, scurry, scurry to a hiding place and freeze.... "CHIRP!" scurry, scurry, scurry to a hiding place and freeze

I'm 'functioning' of about 2 hrs of sleep. I'd be willing to bet that tonight someone could break in and move the entire contents out of the house and I'd never notice until I woke up in the back of the moving van.
